Best Pet
I know there are some people out there who are adverse to pets, well this question is not for you. The question is "Which is the best pet and why?". I currently have a lvl 12 stalker and thinking of switching to a wolf. What do you guys think?

Whenever I choose ranger I charm a wolf. I always end up regretting it though, the howling gets so annoying.

I say again: the black widow spider is the only pet with a noticable difference.

I had a similar position to you as I had a level 11 Melandru's stalker when I was level 14. I instead got a wolf at lvl 5 just outside Yak's Bend. I found that he levels up quite fast and by the time I was level 15 the Wolf was level 13. I am now level 17 and the Wolf is 17 too. The wolf I find as certain advantages over the Melandru's Stalker. However, there are certain aspects to the wolf that I prefer.
With the wolf, I never noticed a change in the attack strength as it is the same as the Melandru's Stalker in that I haven't noticed a difference. I have also noticed that the Melandru's Stalker is slightly faster than the Wolf, but there is hardly any difference. When it comes to statistics the animals are almost Identical.
Now the differences. I, now this is my opinion, feel that the wolf looks alot cooler and shows that I have been further in the game. However, I see more people with level 20 Elder Wolfs than I do with a Melandru's Stalker. I don't think I have come across a player with a lvl 20 pet stalker, so I would like to see how big one would become. Also, the howl of the wolf may be cool at first however it does get annoying, I have recieved several complaints from fellow party members saying 'Please shut that f***ing Wolf up'.
In conclusion, I'd say it is a matter of personal opinion, I prefer the Wolf because thats the kind of person I am. However, later in the game when I reach the Underworld I wish to be able to charm that Black Widow Spider. It looks so cool and I here that it's attack strength is impressive.

What do you mean by this? In terms of damage, life? I hear Spider's are super weak. Is this true.

Pets are all the same, they do the same damage and have the same armor/hp. Bear's use a "brutal mauling" attack, but it doesn't do anything. Just a cosmetic effect.
Some people claim that Spiders are like the 15K armor of pets: not really better, but harder to get and therefore more coveted. Some people claim that they're stronger. I haven't seen anyone using one though.

Tests have been done with pets and it has been shown that the Spider is capable of dealing more damage than any of the other types. Beyond that, all the others are the same.

Sure the rabbit would be cool, but you can't charm it. I wish you could though

I've posted this before, but I just relinked it for you here... same file though...
stats go up same as you stats go up for each level gained... use the Black widow to get an ide of max dmg on each... this is of course direct melee... no enchantments or spirts adding dmg. with those they do MUCH MUCH more dmg...
Persoanlly the Black Widow and the Dune Lizard seem to be the best two pets once they are lev 20. Dune lizard is an exelent tank... good armor...
Advise. stay clear of the bear. its a good attacker WHEN IT FINALLY DECIDES TO DO IT... I think it may be somewhat broken actually cause it always seems very slow to attack anything...
